• Which drones do you offer cases and backpacks for?

  We offer precision-fit case and backpack solutions for virtually all DJI drones — from compact hobby models to professional enterprise drones. These include the DJI Mini Series, DJI Neo Series, DJI Air Series, DJI Avata Series, DJI Mavic Series as well as the enterprise and BOS models DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise, DJI Matrice 4 Series, DJI Matrice 3D and DJI Matrice 30/300 Series. We also offer solutions for Autel drones such as the Autel EVO Series. For drone models not included in our standard range, custom solutions are available on request.

• What is the difference between a drone case and a drone backpack — which is right for me?

  Both solutions reliably protect your drone — the choice depends on your use case. A drone case offers maximum protection: robust hard shell, IP67 protection class on our XTREME models, stackable and ideal for transport by vehicle, aircraft or in rough terrain. It is the first choice when the case is frequently set down, thrown or exposed to extreme conditions. A drone backpack on the other hand offers maximum mobility: hands free, quick at the deployment site, ideal for longer hikes or hard-to-reach terrain. Our backpacks are also equipped with a precision-milled PE hard foam inlay, offering the same high protection standard as our cases — just in a different carrying format. For many professionals in the BOS and enterprise sector, a combination of both makes sense: the case for transport to the site, the backpack for the last few kilometres on foot.

• What does "Ready-to-Fly" (RTF) mean for a drone case?

  "Ready-to-Fly" means the drone is transported in its unfolded state — with mounted propellers and without gimbal protection — directly in the case or backpack. This may seem unusual at first, but it has a decisive advantage: at the deployment site, the drone does not need to be unpacked, unfolded and prepared — it is immediately ready to fly. Especially in the BOS and enterprise sector where every second counts, this is a significant time advantage. The inlay is specially designed for the unfolded drone — the rotor motors rest freely and are not exposed to any pressure. The gimbal is protected from impacts and vibrations by an integrated soft foam. The PE hard foam inlay is also surface-sealed — exclusively at TOMcase — making it particularly resistant to dirt and scratches.

• What does "Ready-to-Charge" (RTC) mean — can I charge my batteries inside the case?

  "Ready-to-Charge" means that drone batteries can be charged directly inside the case — without removing them first. Here is how it works: the charging station remains permanently in the foam inlay of the case. Integrated cable routing connects the charging station to the power adapter — the power adapter also stays in the case. To charge, you simply plug the power adapter into a socket — that is it. This saves time, significantly reduces effort before and after deployment, and minimises the risk of charging accessories being forgotten or misplaced. The RTC function is available primarily on our cases for enterprise and BOS drones, where battery management plays a particularly important role. In addition, most of our drone cases are UN4H2 certified and therefore officially approved for the transport of lithium batteries.

• Are your drone cases suitable for professional use by authorities and BOS?

  Yes — TOMcase is the market leader for case and backpack systems in the BOS and enterprise drone sector. Our solutions are used daily by fire departments, police, technical relief organisations, rescue services as well as industrial and surveying companies. The requirements in these areas are high: rapid readiness, maximum protection under extreme conditions and reliable organisation of all equipment — that is exactly what our cases and backpacks were developed for. • How does the foam inlay protect my drone — what is the difference to pick-n-pluck foam?

  The foam inlay is one of the most important differences between a professional drone case and a simple transport solution. At TOMcase we exclusively use precision-milled PE hard foam inlays — each inlay is cut exactly to the respective drone model, so the drone and accessories are held securely in position without any play. The surface is additionally sealed — exclusively at TOMcase — making the inlay particularly resistant to dirt, scratches and moisture. Pick-n-pluck foam — the pre-perforated foam offered with many universal cases — is flexible and versatile, but does not provide a precision fit. For sensitive drones with a gimbal, mounted propellers or complex accessories, a custom-made inlay is the significantly safer choice. Both options are available at TOMcase — we are happy to advise personally depending on the drone model and use case.

• What sets a TOMcase drone case apart from the DJI case included in the box?

  The cases included by DJI are solid basic solutions — they serve their purpose for basic drone protection. A TOMcase drone case however goes significantly further in several respects. First, protection: our XTREME cases are IP67 certified — dustproof and waterproof to 1m depth — and meet military certification standards such as MIL-STD-810 and STANAG 4280. Second, the inlay: while DJI cases typically only accommodate the drone itself, a TOMcase inlay provides space for the entire kit — controller, batteries, charging station, power adapter, spare propellers and additional accessories — all perfectly organised in a single case. Third, functionality: Ready-to-Fly and Ready-to-Charge are concepts developed specifically for professional use and are not available with standard DJI cases. And fourth, the guarantee: all XTREME cases come with a lifetime guarantee — with no time limit and no proof of purchase required.

• My drone is not in your range — are custom solutions available?

  If your drone is not in our range, feel free to get in touch — we will find a solution together. For companies, authorities and organisations that need custom case or backpack solutions for less common or industry-specific drone models, we produce individual inlays with precision-milled PE hard foam. This is generally worthwhile from a quantity of around 5–10 units — for smaller quantities we will look together at what is possible. For production we ideally need a 3D file of the drone model (e.g. STEP or CAD file) — alternatively you can send us the drone directly so we can take measurements on site.
