Why do lithium batteries need a special transport case?
Lithium-ion and LiPo batteries are sensitive to mechanical damage, short circuits and pressure changes. A damaged battery can generate heat uncontrollably – a process known as thermal runaway, which in the worst case leads to fire or explosion. A certified hard-shell case significantly minimizes this risk: it protects the batteries from impacts, prevents contact with other metal parts and reliably seals the contents.
UN4H2 certification – what is behind it?
The UN4H2 marking is an internationally recognized dangerous goods packaging certification. Selected models of the TOMcase XTREME series are certified according to UN 3480/3481 (lithium-ion batteries) and UN 3490/3491 (lithium metal batteries). This means these cases meet the requirements for the commercial and governmental transport of lithium batteries as dangerous goods – relevant for companies, logistics, industry and public authorities that need legally compliant transport.
Who are the TOMcase battery transport cases suitable for?
The cases are suitable for anyone who regularly transports or stores lithium or LiPo batteries – whether drone pilots with several flight batteries, tradespeople with battery packs for tools and measuring equipment, photographers and film crews with camera batteries, or companies and authorities that need to pack batteries as dangerous goods in a legally compliant way.
Foam inlay: a perfect fit for your batteries
All cases are available either empty or with multi-layer grid foam. The pick-n-pluck foam can be adapted by hand to the exact dimensions of your batteries – no tools, no effort. For companies with recurring needs, we produce CNC-milled inlays on request, cut precisely to your battery models.
